Recently I installed the Truesteam 9Gal system in my home. Pretty straight forward install and works like a charm. After the first and a half week of the installation the Press Empty LED starting flashing. I followed the maintenance instruction by doing the slow drain and cleaning the tank and other equipment (coil, etc). Too my surprise the tank showed a good amount of water chalk in the tank. Did the same thing as before, slow drain and cleaned the tank and other equipment. It worked fine for two weeks when again I got the Press Empty LED flashing. this time I was very curious as to why? Again I did the slow drain and cleaned the tank and other equipment. So it happen again for the third time. After having run for one and a half week of so I got the Press Empty LED flashing. It seems that it's happening every one and half to two weeks.
Is this common or is there something else going on? The system is working like a charm but I don't get as to why this constant maintenance. I'm think it might be Northern Virginia finest h20. The other question that I have, does the water tank run very hot all the time? If so I guess I should get labels or stickers marking HOT!

Thanks

The tank does get very hot. Actually, really hot. As far as the LED flashing... Have you lost power at all?...Is your outlet rated for the amps? (maybe browning out) I know that if you unplug the unit and then plug it back in you must hit the reset button for the unit to work. I am not that familiar with the unit as I have only had one a short while so I am of limited help.

I think this happened to me and resulted in too much sediment clogging the drain. When the unit scheduled a clean cycle and the water was unable to drain it signaled a fault, and indicated "clean unit". I don't know how common the problem is, but I don't think the unit likes hard water.

thanks Matt. I have a dedicated outlet for this unit and I haven't had any power outages either. I think this has a lot to do with the water quality and maybe too much sediment happening in the tank.

Thanks NSDIENES, I think you might be in the right path that I have hard water and sediment accumulates too fast. I'm surprise that this happens since I thoughtthe the water filter provided with the system is suppose to prevent this from happening too often. My wife called Honeywell today but they would not assist with anything. They said the unit has to be professionally installed. Well I installed the unit as professionally or better than anyone else. It's not rocket science. I'm guessing I should have my water tested at home and see if I can get some sort of scientific reading on the quality. I'm not too concern but every week or so cleaning this unit becomes a burden. I guess it also means I would need to hurry and install some sort of water softerner system for the house.
