I have a GE Gas Range (model JGBP28GEL1BG) with electric controls. A few months ago it began having a problem igniting the oven. The burners still work.
At first I figured out that if I turn the oven on over and over again eventually a little click would happen and it would ignite. At first it was just a few tries...today I tried over and over for about 15 minutes and nothing would happen.
The broiler and self clean also will not ignite.
Any ideas what the problem is? I am wondering if it is something fixable versus purchasing a whole new range.
EDIT* - After reading up on HSI systems, I took off the bottom of inside of the oven. After a while of trying I heard the click. The HSI did glow bright after that ans it lit just fine, so I am inclined to think it is electrical...

You still need to take volt/amp reads or just replace the igniter. Also look for a valve somewhere in the range you may have closed while cleaning under top area or behind the range

Yeah it sounds like it. Try take all the connectors apart and cleaning them. Let us know what you find. Thanks.

Several vendors on Ebay have them- $13 plus shipping or $20 shipping included. They are brand new GE parts, however they will fit other applications.
