A few days ago, I installed halogen track lighting and a dimmer switch in a room in my house. I just now noticed a red glow from inside the switch when the switch is OFF. The glow completely goes away when I turn the switch ON.
I've installed two dimmer switches previously to this one and they work fine and, more importantly, do not glow when turned off. I'm unhooking it just to be safe(obviously). Is it a faulty switch? Did I do something wrong? Thanks for any help with this!

What type of dimmer is it - model, etc? Some dimmers have a built-in nightlight to help you find it in the dark.

The nightlight only comes on when the dimmer is in the off position.

these, for example:

Lutron Electronics, Inc. - Diva Controls (http://www.lutron.com/diva/)

If there is an "NL" in the model # you have a night light.
