have smellybathtub drain especially after shower, suspect
vent, can I RUN HOSEPIPE DOWN VENT PIPE.

Clogged vent stack will cause drains to seek a source of air and rob plumbing traps of air and the water that is supposed to be in traps to block sewage gases and odors. A hose in vent stack can remove clogs from bee nests and debris. But, if clog is further down the line, then hosing vent stack will be a waste of time and energy.

why do people always blame the vent for everything that goes wrong in the drain system? have you tried cleaning the drain to make sure it isnt being wicked dry by a clog or something else? have to tried to clean the tub shoe pipe with vinagar and backing soda?
