Had this TV for a while - we are going to look for a new one soon; but I'd like to have this working for a while longer yet :)

The TV won't turn on anymore - all we get is a blinking LCD light.
Before it stopped working it turned on and off, on its own, about 10 times really quickly and then went into this state. I believe, from what I can gather, that the LCD blinking means that it's overloaded and won't turn on to protect itself.

I've taken the back off; dusted the whole thing, checked around for obvious issues and nothing comes to mind.

I don't mind digging into it and trying to fix it; but I'm not even sure where to start, what to look for or even how to know if I've found the problem (like a board I have to replace).

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a multimeter?
Start at the " G " board. That is the ac power supply board that will have the ac power cord going to it.Check for open fuses. F601 should be ok/shorted, but R606 may be open.It should check shorted. Post back and let me know what you find.

My multimeter is broken; so I'm going to have to buy a new one.

I will head out and get it done this weekend - will post back.

Thanks.

Checked the G Board.

F601 was ok.
R606 tested as open

I also tested fuses on the board on the other side:
F1601 and F1602 were ok as well.

That is the parts that normally short to blow that resistor.Try replacing R606, it's a 0.1 ohm 1/2 wat resistor.Power it on and let me know the results.
