Im putting up a shelf in my parents house so that they I can mount the tv on the wall and then have a lower surface where he reciver and dvd player can b put on. the only problem I am coming across os that one of the walls is a brick fireplace. I dont know what kind of mess i can get into with drilling into something like that but if somebody knows please let me know. :alarm:

Drill with a masonry bit and use anchors. If it's a newer flat screen TV, there are brackets available.

Drilling in the mortar joints will be easier than drilling in the brick.
