Hello again

I found that the responses to my last thread were so helpful, i thought i'd post another query which is bothering me.

After my husband hung the wallpaper up in my daughters bedroom a few years ago, the paste where the wallpaper joined seeped through the joined strips - which im sure is normal in hanging wallpaper. However, although my husband wiped over this excess paste with a damp cloth, when it dried you could still see the shine of the dried smudged paste. After more attempts to remove these streaks, unfortunately the effect was permanent.

So i am now a little bit nervous that this could happen again now we are decorating our main bedroom, as the wallpaper we are hanging is very similar in texture to my daughters.

I would really appreciate some advice on how to successfully remove the excess paste after placing the strips of wallpaper together.

I hope this makes sense!

Many thanks in advance :thumbup:.

Personally, I've not hung much wallpaper but as a painter, I've worked with a bunch of paper hangers or followed behind them. It takes multiple wipes, rinsing the sponge well to remove all the paste. Failure to remove all the paste can be unsightly on the paper and paste left on latex paint tends to peel:eek:

Thank you for your help. It just sounds like maybe we need to be a little bit more thorough with the rinsing & sponging to remove all the paste. We'll bare that in mind.

Thank you :thumbup::)
