we have a round 36" table and it is so hard to open and close it when putting in the leaf to extend it.. two strong men could hardly pull it apart and close later...
What can we do to get the gliders to work better?

Welcome to the form!
If the sliders have bearings a little oil should do the trick. If it is a friction slider, a little light grease should work fine. Use an onl tooth brush, pull the table apart as far as possible and lube both the track and slider. Work back and forth a few times and see if it helps!

If you are having a problem opening it now, place a dehumidifier under it for a day to reduce the humitidy, the try opening it. Once open, do as Mike suggests, or if it has wooden sliders, you may also want to use bees wax to make it slide better.

I agree with Chandler & Mike. And if you don't have beeswax handy, just try rubbing a bar of soap along the rails.

Jelly wax??? I haven't seen that since 1960! Good for lubricating screws, I bet.
