I have a kinetico softener. It has not been used for about 7 years, but was only used for about 2 years before being taken off line
I would like to install, but am cocerned that it will operate correctly.
Is there any detrement to the softener sitting this long that would effect the operation?

It's hard to say without knowing more or inspecting it. The rule of thumb: Misuse by disuse. Was it filled with water or dry? Could it have been in a freezing environment?

How big are the tanks?

Resin can be fouled or clumped, or organics may have grown inside including molds.

It would prove worthwhile to have it empried, santized and rebedded. If the valve worked when it was shut off, chances are good it will work again without any

Make sure it is appropriate forthe source water.
