I want to add 8 or 10 new wireless sensors to my alarm system and I would like some advice on doing so. Will my monitoring company get bent out of shape that I am doing this myself, or will this cause any monitoring issues? Will they even know? They want about double what I can buy the sensors for on line, and I saw them program a wireless sensor through my Keypad, so I know it can be done. I have the user guide and the Master code, and I have downloaded the Install guide, I am just having trouble getting to the sesor menu. I have not ordered the senors yet, but as soon as I am confindent that I can install, I am ordering wireless mini sensors and some wireless glass breaks. I am also adding some new doors to the house so I will also by adding some wireless door sensors in the very near future. Any tips on what I can expect, or problems I will encounter would be appreciated. Thanks.

You need to get your monitoring company involved--they need to know how to respond to an alarm signal. Although this is less of a concern with SIA and CID formats, without the proper data entry on their software they may not respond or respond incorrectly.
With that being said, some alarm companies will let you install your own devices, my company will even download the programming (helps that our branch has a local download tech). Sometimes you just need to talk to the right person.

Thanks. I really did not want to advise them that I am going to add some sensors, I got a price from them first. I feel like they won't be too helpful. I am not sure why they wouldn't respond, won't they just get a alarm signal and respond regardless by calling me and asking for my password? Thanks. :madhell::eek:

The problem is that any added zones would not be on their zone list, and would show up on the system as "undefined". Basically if you add something, you have to tell them what that new signal actually corresponds to. These systems don't automatically transmit the zone definition, just a standard signal.

Well I guess after I have sucessfully added the sensors I will give them a call. I have downloaded the install guide and I am pretty clear how to add the sensors from the sensor menu, trouble is I cannot get to the sensor menu. Can anyone help me get to the sensor menu? The original tech that installed the alarm gave me the master code. Is this master code not enough? Is there a separate programers code? Thanks.

Default is 4321. Chances are the install company changed it.

Just FYI--ADT and many other monitoring companies treat undefined signals as panic alarms:alarm:. No call to the premise, just to the police, then a 30 minute follow up.

I have sucessfully convinced my alarm company to change the install code to a code I chose. I have loaded 2 wireless window sensors so far with no issues. Anyone have the best place to buy wireless sensors, glass breaks, smokes, and any other nifty add ons for my Concord 4? I am going to make my house into a fortress! Soon you will need a secret code to pee! Where can I but a pee sensor?
