i heat my house with two wood stoves but the upstairs is 15 degrees colder than downstairs - planning to cut holes in downstairs ceiling/upstairs floor to get circulation - will use fire dampers for safety - any suggestions for size of holes, use of fans, location of holes, source to buy large floor registers?

HVAC supply house or Grainger Grainger Industrial Supply (http://www.Grainger.com) would be my best bet. Also for the fire dampers. As for size of hole, find the damper and register first and go from there.
You don't have a furnace that you can turn on a fan do you?

thanks for the advice - not sure if i understand your last question, but one of my stoves is a baker double eagle fireplace insert which has its own blower system - the other stove is a kodiak woodstove and i place a regular floor fan a foot away and blow air on it to help move the warmth out of the corner and around the room, also have a ceiling fan in that room
