Hi,

i am newbie to alarm systems, and i know that not many like the AIO units but it is goning to work alright with my house.
i just bought a new place, and i only use one entry door anyway. the system was already installed but never programed or anything, is what the realestae said the owner told them. i have 3 door sensors and 2 motions that were still in there boxes. but i have no users guide or install guide. anyone got tips for powering it up the first time and where i can find the install guide to program and set everything up.... thanks everyone for all the help in advanced. much appreciated!!

This model is actually pretty new (I've yet to see one installed in my area), so there's not a lot of sites with the manual posted. It just takes a bit of patience with the websearch results to find it:

thanks mrronfl. i just actrually found that one before i checked back at the site. i also am wondering afew other things. what would you recommend for sensors. all basement windows? do i need glass breaks anywhere there is glass that could be broken into? also fire protection, i would like a detector for the furnace/electrial room, the kitchen and the laundry room, any suggestions on a sensor that would work? anything else you recommend for a newbie that would be greatfully appreciated.

Volunteer forum, not manned 24-7...

It's a wireless system. You are pretty much stuck with the wireless devices that DSC makes, so that answers the heat and smoke detector question. You use heats in places that are too dirty, damp, etc for a smoke.

For security devices, you have to assess your risks. If the window or door is a probable target for access, you protect it. For second line of defense things like glass breaks, those are best for largish expanses of glass that someone could easily pass through after smashing.

Motions are best for protecting the approach to locations in the interior where your actual valuables are.

There's no hard and fast formula for this, a lot of it is the judgement calls that you have to make balancing enough protection vs the cost of the hardware.

The DSC 9047 is really easy if it has not been locked out by dealer lock out code just hit (*85555) that should get you in programing mode to learn sensors in go to section 898 (wireless device inrollment ) open the door/window that you want learned into system, go back to panel hit * to confirm then select the Zone # (i.e. 01 ) for zone 1 then the type of zone it is (i.e. delay door or instant ) delay door is type 01 instant is 03 and interior motion is 05 hit the # key to exit section
go into section 007 to view and change master code (i.e. 1234) once you enter 4 digits the system will auto kick you back to program index then if your not going to use a monitoring company go to section 380 and turn off # 1 for communication disable when you go in it should look like this ( 1 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ) hit the 1 key when communication is disabled it should look like this ( _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ) hit the # key 2 times to exit programing mode. be very careful when you enter programing not to change things in the wrong field anytime your not sure of something hit the # key 2 times to exit then start over DO NOT CHANGE THE INSTALLER CODE IN SECTION 006 UNLESS YOU WRITE IT DOWN DO NOT ARM THE SYSTEM UNLESS YOU KNOW THE MASTER CODE these 2 things can lock you out of the system and buying a new system is cheaper then fixing
this system has 2 pgm outputs this allows you to add hard wire devices such as smokes and heats you can loop them to one of the outputs then use the other for motions and glass brakes all of these devices come in wireless or hard wire hard wire cheaper but you have to install the wire.
wireless smoke and heats run about $100.00 ea motions and glassbrakes $80.00 to $125.00 door/widow sensors $30.00-$75.00 you can have 32 total wireless points on this system.
hope that helped you out
