Hello 4cheemo. Welcome to the Gas Appliances topic and the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.
......
More Detailed Information Needed:
Question #1
Did this condition (taking a long time to heat up) just start recently???? Or has this condition been present for the entire 12 years you have had the appliance???
If the described condition recently started, it has nothing to do with new appliances recently added to the main supply line.
However, if the condition just started, after installing 2 new gas appliances into the gas supply main line, very possible the supply line now does not have the gas volume to supply volume needed....
Question #2
Was new gas line added to accommodate (supply gas) the new appliances?
Question #3
New gas line added to the existing gas line that supplies gas to the stove OR new gas line added into just the main gas line?
Question #4
Fuel Type?????.....
Natural Gas????
OR
Propane Gas????
Your reply must include answers to the above questions in order to determine if the ovens HSI (Hot Surface Glow Igniter) and/or gas control valve are the cause of the problem or there is a gas supply problem.
Cautionary Reminder Note:
Before attempting any repairs, be sure to unplug the appliance from the wall receptacle power source first.

Retail parts dealers and appliances parts stores can also help determine what the possible problem may be based upon that specific brand and model. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Dealers and appliances parts stores are listed in the phone book.

Hey Sharp,
I actually have the same exact problem, with a different model range. My wife and I just bought this house, the range is brand new (a month and a half old), and we were told that the local gas company guy came to hook up the gas to it.
Range: Maytag Precision Touch Control 800
Other appliances on line: Forced air furnace, water heater.
The piping on the line to the stove doesn't look new at all, just the flexible end looks new. There is only 1 line coming off of the main, which splits to the 3 appliances. I tried adjusting the air vents with no effect on the heating time. I checked the regulator and it is set to regulate natural gas (as it should be). The regulator is set to 4 inches of water column.
The only thing I can think of doing is adjusting the regulator to increase this number. The gas conversion manual that came with the stove actually says the min WC for nat gas is 5, but it came from the manufacturer set to 4. I don't see any way of adjusting the regulator though. Am I out of options? The burners on the top seem to work fine, though they have slight orange tipping, which I understand the possible reasons for that. The only thing with them is when they are turned all the way to low, the flame goes out. That leads me to believe that the pressure is not high enough, whether it's because of the regulator or simply the line volume.
I thought I would try here and do everything I can before calling someone in to look at this. Thanks!
