Is this a new install? New tstat?
When in heat for a heat pump, the compressor should come on (check for 24 volts between common and yellow) When aux comes on (24 volts between common and W1) this is usually the white wire so I'm wondering if you have those switched.

Thanks for your reply Wirenut!
This is a new stat on existing wiring. All terminals and wire colors were taken from existing wiring in air handler.

What was the old tstat and what was its wire color to terminal label mapping? Did you change any wiring from the air handler to the HP? What configurations did you set on that RTH7500?

I need help installing a Honeywell RTH7500D. I have a Waterfurnace brand geothermal unit. It has 2 heating stages and one AC.
The Old Thermostat has the following colored wires going to terminals:
Blue - C
Red - R
Green - F
Orange - O
White - W1
Black - W2
Yellow - Y2
Honeywell support does not understand this collection of wires. I asked Waterfurnace for help, and they told me they no longer have information on 20 year old units.
Any help is appreciated,
thanks
John

Since my conditions are a bit different than the original posters, and since this received no replies, I started a new thread which can be found at:

I have installed a new Honeywell thermostat RTH7500, but can't get the unit to respond... appears to have no power -- but have checked and rechecked all breakers/master switches and have tried numerous changes to no avail ...can anyone HELP??? I live in the desert and have no air since the 4th of July!
Currently wired with pre-installed jumper in R-RC and connected the "O" to "O" (no B) and "W2" to "AUX" ... and since the old thermostat had no "E" I have attached the "X" to "C" and jumpered the AUX and E with a separate wire that I had on-hand (as instructions advise)... programmed the function 0170 to be "2"
PLEASE advise -- I feel like a dufus at this point!

Did you check to see if you have power on the furnace/air handler? (Low voltage)
... and since the old thermostat had no "E" I have attached the "X" to "C"
X is where?
