We just purchased a home with a partially finished basement. They have already drywalled most of the walls, but the ceiling is untouched. I understand that standard procedure would be to drywall the ceiling first, but is it possible to go ahead and drywall the ceiling second? We prefer drywall to a dropped ceiling. Thanks!

Welcome to the forums!

Yes you can hang the ceiling after the walls - it's just easier if you do the ceiling first.
Depending on the floor joist system, you may need to add some nailers around the perimeter.

The main reason many use a drop ceiling is to maintain access to the plumbing that more than likely runs between the joists.
