Our energy bill is showing that we used 8, 13, 67, and 100 therms over the last 4 months. The only gas appliances we have are the water heater and the stove. Could the colder weather really add this much to our bill. It seems unreasonable, any ideas what it could be?

Those numbers would not be out of line if you also had a gas furnace heating your home. Do you have a heat pump and if yes, is your back-up heat electric or gas?
The only other explanations is that you are using your kitchen range for space heating or you are receiving a bill from someone else's meter. I think a call to the gas utility may be in order.
One other possibility, do you have a gas-fired heater on a swimming pool or outdoor hot tub?

I'd start by checking to see if the current or previous months bills were estimated. Then I'd go out and read the meter and compare the current read with the last reading as reported on your bill.
