I recently aquired 2 antique chairs. One from my grandmother that has wood carved swan heads for the armrests with swan feet. This one has vinyl. The other is similar to a wing back with wood trim. This one has cloth with buttons on the front of the backrest.::eek: I really want to restore these, but I don't want to mess them up. I don't have the money to have somebody else do this. Besides, I would really love to know how to do this myself. ANY advice would be wonderful.

There are lots of books and videos available on upholstery. Some local community colleges offer upholstery classes. You can Google for 'how to upholster,' and find lots of links.

I would get some experience upholstering before tackling the pieces you have. You can gain some experience with upholstering by beginning with less challenging pieces.

The pieces you have demand the work of a professional. Working around wood trim and doing the tufting with buttons require special skills.

thanks. I think I will just save my money and get somebody to do it like you said. I design and make wood tables, but this is a bit out of my safety zone.:)
