Today when flipping down the panel to enter my code the
enter LCD5500Z fell off the wall. When falling off the wall the
black wire came lose. The keypad now would not accept my
pin so the alarm went off. I unplugged the system from the
AC and unplugged the battery. The alarm stopped (I'm sure
the neighbors were happy at 5:30am!).
I've now reattached the black wire from where it came lose
and the trouble light has turned off. I've turned the "chime"
feature back on and that seems to work. I've also been able
to reset the time/date and all is good there.
However, when I set the alarm for "away"; enter PIN and press
the away button, when the "authorized" door is now opened I
now longer have X seconds to turn the alarm off....the alarm
now goes off automatically. The "away" feature is now
acting like the "stay" feature. The "stay" feature seems to
work as it should; when the "authorized" door is opened the
alarm sounds immediately.
Anyone know what I need to do to get the "away" feature
working again; ie....give me X seconds to turn the alarm off.
Thanks in advance,
-Mark

LCD 5500z is the keypad model, not the system model. In this case it really doesn't matter if you have a PC1555 or PC5010, though.
What you described isn't stay arming, it's instant arming. Normally to do this, you press *9 then enter your code. Could you have possibly had your stay quick key remapped for this functio
Hmmm, that's not something that a keypad disconnect, followed by a a power down and reset should have had an effect on. I suppose that it's possible for a glitch like that to scramble the keypad programming.
What happens if you simply arm by entering your code? That should arm in normal away mode (assuming you open and close an entry exit door)
Do you have your installer code? You have to have that to access programming to check/change the function key programming.

Thanks for your input.
My alarm system is a DSC PC1555.
Yes, I do have the installer code.
I tried *9 code as you suggested and I get no warning exit
beeps; I open the door as to leave; the alarm is set. I open
the door and the alarm goes off immediately. Then the LCD
flashes "Memory 2"; according to the owners manual that
indicates the loss of AC power. Which I did unplug to get the
alarm to shut off at 5:30am.
I again tried entering the code and pressing the "away" button;
received warning beeps; opened door as to leave. Alarm is
set. Opened door and alarm immediately goes off.
Even tried entering just my code; received warning beeps;
opened door as to leave. Alarm was set. Say in the LCD it
said "away". Opened door and the alarm immediately went
off.
Any other ideas??? Please???
Thanks in advance,

I think you are mis-interpreting some of your indicators and procedures. You need to refer to your user manual a bit more carefully.
"Memory 2" that the last alarm was on zone 2.
If you are arming in normal away mode (just entering your code and nothing else) and the door is coming up instant, then that means that the zone for that door is somehow set as an instant zone, and not as a delay zone. That's a system programming issue.
Your discombobulation with the keypad should not have had any effect on system programming.
If you enter *8 5555, does the system go into programming mode? (that's the factory default). If it does exit programming by pressing # until you are back to normal and let us know.

Try waiting 20 seconds before opening the entry door.

not sure what your doing. are you setting the alarm and then immediately enter the house after the alarm sets. also you don't have to enter your code and press the away. do one or the other, but not both. depending on what your settings in the alarm is you may have to wait one minute after arming to enter back into your premise. i believe under section 013 in the programming, turn off 6, i believe. like ron mentioned the black wire coming out of the keypad will not do anything in programming. also 5555 is the factory default code. if that doesn't work, you would have to contact the alarm company that installed the alarm. it's likely their installer code. good luck.

I am setting the door like I always have and now all of a sudden it goes off when reentering. It doesnt give me any time to enter the code before the alarm goes off.
Any ideas?

Any ideas?
Are you reentering immediately after the exit delay. If you are that will trip the siren alerting you that you need to disarm the system. This is a feature that reduces false alarms. Wait 20 secs after your delay ends then enter.
If you are waiting, what zone is showing in alarm when this happens?

We are waiting before we reenter. Its about 8 hrs before we come back. It shows zone 33?

Unless your base system is a PC5020/power 864, there is _no_ zone 33. All other models max out at 32 zones.
Clearly something is going on but there is insufficient information for anyone to provide you with a meaningful answer.

I know, that's what we thought was weird. We did try something different today though.. We opened the door and it wasn't until we stepped in is when the alarm went off. Maybe it could be something with the motion sensor?

motion is probably not programmed as a 05 or 06 most techs use 04 (mistaking with ademco's 04), this causes the alarm to trip if you hit the motion before the keypad.
But zone 33 ?
How many zones do you have?
