hey friends
our 2 y/o berber carpet had a small pull for several months and it wasnt really noticeable until now...the cleaners came and vacummed over it and it must have really grabbed the pull because now there is like 5 or 6 inches of carpet that got pulled up...it looks like silly string is sitting on the carpet...what shall we do...we dont want to cut each end of the pull since it may happen again and plus you'd see all the way down to where it was woven in....any idea on what we can do here?
thanks

Take a pair of finger nail clippers and clip each end at the base of the loop. This will minimize the chance of another pull, not cause it to become worse. You can do a couple things at this point: Have an insert put in by a proffessional if you have any extra carpet. If the pull doesn't look too bad after being cut, use a hot glue gun and carefully put a dot of glue at the base of the two recently cut ends. This is the free option.
One last one is to find a repair specialist that can retuft that cut loop. It's rare to find an installer that has this skill but i've seen it done and it is impressive. Not cheap either.
