My dad passed away in july of 2008 and i inherited a house that i decided to live in, well it has a alarm in it but i dont know the code to the alarm and i would like to use the alarm being that i am not in the best area. Well one day i was trying to figure out the code and then i pressed # and the alarm armed it self and when i moved the alarm went off and i had to unplug the power plug and the battery to get the siren to stop, well i plugged everything back in and the alarm still says armed AND SAYS DL FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND THEN THE DL GOES AWAY. I would like to know is there something i can do to get the code out of the panel even though the system is armed and says dl WHEN I FIRST PLUG IT IN. WELL I READ A DIFFERENT POST ON THIS PAGE AND IT SAID to press # and * while it says dl and then press #20 and it will display the ic code then i press *99 but when i press # and * while it says armed and dl it does nothing, i HAVE tryed it several time and i am about to take a hammer to it but i really want to use it can anyone please helpppppppp!!!!!

That means that the installer lockout was set. Power the system down and have a helper hold * + # (unplug the phone line, by the way) _while_ you restore power.

If that doesn't kick it into programming, then the installer disabled all local programming access with the download software, and there's no way in. Your only choice at that point is to have whoever locked the system unlock it, or replace the motherboard.
