I'm looking at starting to build a camp in Northern Ontario, we are looking at it as it may turn into a retirement home so we want to do it right.
I see a lot of views but not a lot of responses and I'm looking for feedback so hopefully someone will reply.
I'm looking to build something roughly 30 ft x 20 ft. I'm hoping to put a second story on it. It's going to be off the ground so I was planning sauna tubes (Builders tubes) - They come in different sizes, 10 inch diameter and 8 feet long.
So I guess first off, being I'm still in planning stage, would sauna tubes support the construction of 30x20? Or would it be better to go with the footings?

Since you're still in the planning stage look into container homes. No, I don't mean a superficial web search. If you really dig a little you will be rewarded, and you'll understand why I said what I said.

On a forum like this it is very difficult to give specific advice as there are too many variables.
An example is that in Northern Ontario your building site could vary from a muskeg to a rock base.
The first place you would do well to start from is with the permit department in the area you wish to build.
They will have a wealth of knowledge.

I think ICF would be something worth looking into. For what you are looking to do you could easily do it yourself could you not?
