Hello,

I have a pc5010 system with a lcd5501z keypad which came with my new house. I did not activate the service and am not sure how much of the programming the installer has completed. The installer code and master codes are default.

In looking at the panel and tracing wires, I have the following zones setup:
z1 - front door
z2 - back door
z3 - kitchen door
z5 - motion sensor
z6 - basement windows - daisy chained

Since the installation was not completed, I do not have any door contacts for zones 1-3. The motion sensor is wired up along with the window contacts. I don't see any EOL resistors used.

I would like to get the system up and running to the point where I can test arming and disarming the system. What is the best way to simulate the closed contacts for z1-z3? How can I confirm that the installer has programmed all the zones? I have looked at the installer manual but need some guidance to point me in the right direction.

Thanks for you time,
Pete

Start by reading over the FAQ stickys at the top of the forum. A lot of the basics are there.

If you look at the section of the installer manual titled "how to program" it also tells you how to view the contents of the programming using the panic keys to step through the programming location contents.

Look over the archived posts. This system shares a programming model with all of the other DSC power series panels and most of the basics apply.

Hi MrRonFL,

Thanks for the quick reply. I have been reading a ton of old posts and think I have the info to give it a go.

One quick question, to simulate NC loops on z1-3, can I simply short the wires between z1 and com and so on? Or do you recommend shorting with simply the 56k resistor between the two contacts at the board? Without the EOL resistors, I know that the system needs to be set to not use them.

Thanks

Yeah, you just jumper the zone closed with a scrap of wire. With the EOL requirement tuned off, it looks just like a closed switch.
