I have a rental apartment, and cannot apply wallpaper to the walls. I would like to put up a brick wallpaper on a small area behind our fireplace. My question is - Can wallpaper stick to cardboard if we were to cover the wall with cardboard first???

Yes, it can, though there may be some wrinkling (man I need to download my spell checker). We did it all the time for displays and whatnot. How are you going to attach the cardboard though?

Prime the cardboard with an oil primer - KILZ - let it dry completely then size it with wallpaper wall primer. The oil primer will make the cardboard non-porous. Just be careful not to gouge the cardboard with your razor blade cuts. (how are you attaching this cardboard to the wall??? screws? You can fill the screw holes later when you restore apt.to original order)

I personally think it is a good idea however, how much effort is needed just to remove the wallpaper from the wall itself if you ever decide to leave?
