:wall: I'm frustrated. Something may have been stuck inside the keyhole to my mailbox lock. Key only goes in half way. Spoke to PO - no help. they'll charge $40 to replace it. I can't sit around all day and wait for the carrier to come around. I can't see (or hear) him at the mailboxes anyway. I've drilled out the lock hole - didn't find anything that could have been jamming it. I can see the lever (the tail?), but it won't budge. Putting a screw driver under the level doesn't work either. It just doesn't move at all. I did see the pin (or tumbler) that moved and down, but was unable to hold it up and move the lever at the same time. If I don't get it fixed real soon, my mail will be returned. HELP! Thanks.

Since you have already used a drill to "drill out the key hole",
and assuming this is a typical pin-tumbler cam lock used in the typical "cluster- box" arrangement like you see in apartment complexes, you may have caused more harm than good.....If you can pop the door open with a medium sized screwdriver without damaging the door, you can remove the lock and take it to your local locksmith and he can sell you a replacement pretty cheap.
