I have a older Ademco alarm with VIA 30 PSE, 5881H receiver, 6128 keypad,2 5808 smokes, various window and door sensors. No monitoring service.About a month ago a 5808 went bad. I thought I would just replace it. I bought a new one and descovered it had to be programed. So I bought a apex 6061 keypad to add to system. Ran a new wire to second floor and connected the wires. Powered up the alarm got power to keypad but no response from keys, the screen reads Jan 01. If I push the 1 & F2 keys I can change the key pad address from 1-16. While attempting this my alarm activated. The 6128 was reading check 09. I then took the 6160 from upstairs and replaced the 6128, then tried powering up again this time the 6160 came up apex then the date again. I have tried pressing the *+# at power up with no results. My 6128 address was 31. Is it possible Sentry has some kind of tamper protection? Thanks for any help Dave

Apex? I think you have brought a part thats from an entirely different product line that just happens to have a similar model number. None of what you are describing are normal keys and displays for a Honeywell/Ademco 6160 keypad.

It was sold to me as a honeywell 6160, however when I took it out of the box it has apex on the cover. It looks identical to ademco 6160 but insted of *# it has AH.

The keypad is supposed to be set to non-addressable mode (31) for your system.

This keypad sounds like one modified for a 3rd party vendor's system. If it's not even giving you the option for non-addressable mode, you need to get your money back.

(heck, a search for Apex security systems draws a blank, so this is a really obscure brand).

Hi Ron,
Thanks for the replys.
How about Honeywell apex destiny 6160AP?
Was listed on ebay as "AP KEYPAD apex destiny alpha 6160ap ademco dsc adt" compabatle. Fly by night security, so I'm probably out $50.00 bucks. I'm going to try getting back in with my old keypad. Thanks Dave

They were...in error...

The 6160AP keypad is specific to the Destiny 6100 system.

Thanks MrRon,
I will have to purchase a Ademco 6160 and try again. I'll put this in the box and try reselling it as a Apex Destiny 6160AP. Of course the seller wont respond to my emails, No wonder he sold it for $45.00. Hopefully when I get the right key pad I can make it work. Dave

Never had it: that was the original poster of that thread.

Your best bet is to go auction site surfing.
