I have a brand new house which is prewired for an alarm system. I brought my Ademco Lynx system from my old house. I want to install the panel but don't care for the monitoring or phone connection. Is it as easy as connecting the 2 a/c wires to the transformer? I tried this and the panel does not power up...any help would be appreciated.

If you house was prewired, then you would be best advised to get a traditional or hyprid panel e.g. Honeywell Vista 20, GE Concord 4, DSC power series, etc. The Lynx is a wireless all in one unit...putting this in a prewired home would be like putting whitewall tires, touring tires on a Ferrari.

Thanks for the recommendation, but rather than spending more money on a new system, I may as well use the Lynx I already have...I just need to figure out how to get power to the unit...

Put your Lynx transformer on the other end of the power wire, and plug it in, and if it worked before, it should power up.
