I have a small hole on the outside casting of the carb. It's like a pin hole above the bowl right in the casting. Does anyone know if this is by design or if it might be a flaw in my carb and I need to fill/seal this hole? The carb was running choppy so I took it apart and cleaned it and now when turning on the gas I have gas squirt out of this pin hole on the side.. ???

The pin hole on the side of the carb is the atmospheric vent it is suppose to be there. You have some other problem such as bad float, misadjusted float, missing needle or seat, improper installation of needle & seat.
