I NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW? I DO NOT NOW WHAT
TYPE OF FINISH WOULD BE BEST. PLEASE OFFER ANY INFORMATION

Ms. Young also dropped me an email which I just finished answering, so here we go again (the short version).

I suggested either lacquer -

convenience - available in aerosoles, virtually foolproof in application, readily available in a variety of sheens.

or

Varnish (NOT polyurethane) relatively easy to apply (no matter who told you what it ain't that hard) - very durable - more so than lacquer) readily available in a variety of sheens.
