I have sucessfully installed a GE reverse osmosis system, but it was not all easy. The storage tank turned out to be most touchy part. I could not get the tank to stop leaking at the attachment point, through the threads. Finally, I gave up on teflon tape and used PVC cement ... it worked, for a while. Now a few months later we have a small drip. Additional sealing compounds have not solved the problem. I am wondering if the tank pressure is higher than the line pressure, and how would I somehow reduce the tank pressure. The manual says this might be adjusted, but does not say how. At this point I might have to replace the tank because I can't service the joint any more. Knowing ahead of time would be useful.

The tank pressure is going to stay the almost the same as the inline pressure. Reducing the air pressure in the tank will not reduce the line pressure to the tank. The leak will have to be fixed by removing the valve to the tank or replacing the tank and valve. can you supply a pic of the tank?

Mark,

It sounds like the valve installed on the storage tank if its plastic has a small crack which usually happens if over tightened. A residential ro system usually requires 7 LBS air and the valve stem just like a car or bicycle has a cap over it and is usually at the bottom. This should be checked when water has been expelled from tank. The air charge will not cause the valve to leak.
