I have about 25FT of 14/2 left from a project and I just got a surround sound receiver and I want to be cheap :thinker: can I use it as speaker wire for my left and right rear speakers?
I was thinking white left black right and bare ground for the - on both speakers (Most headphones are wired the same way)
will my plan work or do I need real speaker wire?
also this will not be going in the wall more like on the wall (But since it's low voltage it does not matter that much??)

Well, you can, which is not to say it's a good idea. You can pretty much use anything for speaker wire that will conduct the signal, but I rather suspect the quality may suffer from the excess resistence of the 14-2 wire.

14/2 with ground works perfectly exactly as you described (using the bare wire as common, or speaker ground).
You said this won't be going in the wall, but on the wall? Exposed NM is ugly.
