Looking for information regarding buying a new carpet scrubber. I'm really looking for one that uses direct drive or belt drive to the scrubber brushes vice the (exhaust driven) "turbine drive" employed by Hoover.

All recommendations and discussions welcomed.

I cannot recommend any scrubber - I advise people to hire professionals as DIY carpet cleaning machines lack sufficient power for removng water and chemicals. Our leases specifically prohibit our tenants from cleaning their carpets with home-owner type machines.

Well, that was really helpful. I thought that I had found a Do-It-Yourself forum, only to find the group moderator recommending hiring professional carpet cleaners and bad-mouthing all brands, all models of home-owner cleaners. I guess I'll drift along, still looking for a real DIY forum.
