I believe you tried to put all the information and questions into the topic line when you posted this - try again with just 'redwood furniture' as the topic and the rest of the information posted below.
PS - If you've had the furniture less than 3 months, I'd take it back to where I bought it. Cured redwood should last longer than that with nothing done to it.
