Hi all, I found this fabulous website while looking for information about cellular shades. Six months ago I bought all new levolor cordless cellular shades for our new home. In our bedroom we got the top down/bottom up style. Yesteray I was fiddling around with it trying to bring the bottom up to even it out (I'd done this before by tilting it and bringing it up while you feel a movement in the thread and it lines it up). I had the top part down and somehow I pulled down from the top a little bit. Now it wants to sit in that position. I can bring the bottom all the way up and the top part will go up and stay, but when I pull the bottom down, the top part also comes down to that point (maybe 12-14"). The threads are intact on both sides, but one is very taunt and the other is loose equally on both sides. This is my first time with these blinds and love them but don't quite understand the concept. Is this something I can somehow adjust myself or did I really mess it up? Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forum! I don't know how they work either, but have you tried raising them all the way to the top and then lowering them all the way to the bottom (iow opening them entirely top and bottom) a couple of times? This may reset them.
If that doesn't work, try going to their website and sending them an email (or call them). They should be able to tell you what's wrong and how to fix.

Thank you, Shadeladie. I have gotten them all the way up, and the bottom will come all the way down, but the top "sticks" in that position about 14" from top. I will check out the website, that was my next thought as well. Thanks again; I'm sure I'll be back on this forum to check out other useful tips.

If you look on your rails, do you have a plug in them where string may have been set to length and trimmed? Most of these shades are adjusted by string that is thread thru these 4 plugs and then snapping them in place.

When you install these types of shades, often they will have 4 pieces of string hanging out of them that the customer/installer can use to make any adjustments to the shade. When is all is level you can trim them almost flush.

Let me see if I can help you visualize how this thing is working so you can better decide how to diagnose and fix it.

The very top piece attached to your ceiling is the Headrail.
inside this piece are four little fisherman that are always willing to keep a bit of tension on their lines and let some go when they need to give it some slack. Thats all you need to know about this top piece because if anything goes wrong here your not going to be able to fix it. You must send it to a dealer

The fishing lines those four fisherman cast are going to be attached to 1 of the 4 potential places on the top and bottom of the shade. lets call these lines 1-4 calling the one on the left 1 and the furthest right on 4.

1 and 4 go through the top of your shade, run all the way through and come out the bottom. they are then threaded through a plug and set at the appropriate spot to keep it level to the the #1 string that is doing the same thing.

fishing lines 2 and 3 are going in to the top of the shade, then make a quick uturn and back out the top they just came in. These strings will also have a plug that they are threaded to to adjust the length and level.

it almost sounds like one of your strings has slipped out of the plug totally. to remove a plug you simply pull on the little bit of excess string and the plug will come with it.

Thank you for your reply. I called Levolor and spoke with someone who tried to help diagnose the problem over the phone. He is sending a part I'm supposed to try but after reading your note, I'm pretty convinced this is something I need to send off and have them fix. Your description does help me understand it but the top of the headrail has all the areas you describe protected within a closed area. I am afraid to mess with it too much, because at least now the threads are not broken and maybe would be a fairly easy fix for them. Thank you so much for your response.
