The same day as I installed a replacement Whirlpool electric water heater, after someone took a shower I noticed about a cup of water in the drain plan. The next day after washing clothes I noticed about 2 cups of water in the drain pan. The insulation around the upper heating element is very wet. The connections on the top of the heater are completely dry. I am concerned if I call for warranty service (rather than having the heater replaced by Lowe's) that permament damage may shorten the life of the unit.
