What would cause a bluish colored area to develop in the upper right section of the screen? It is an irregular circlish shaped area only visable when the set is on and seems to be getting more pronounced.

Post the model # and I'll look it up.First thing that comes to mind is a bad color wheel.

Sorry my bad. I realized when I went to get the model number that it actually says LCD projection with a WEGA engine not DLP. The model number is KF60WE610. Thanks for your help.

Got speakers or anything with a magnet or a transformer near that corner of the TV?

No...nothing at all and it sits in the same enclosed entertainment center just as it has for the last 4 years.

To be more specific now that I looked at it closer, it actually starts at the very top edge of the screen and about 4-6 inches over from the top right corner and comes down to form an irregular pattern almost the boot shape of Italy in a bluish color.

60", 50", LCD projections: sounds like a bad Wega engine.
Check the Sony site for possible recall/fixes.

I found what seems to be the problem with your set. It's a PDF file from sony and has pictures of the problem in the document.I can't copy the images of the document and paste them here.Send me a PM with your e-mail and I'll mail the document to you and if the picture matches what you seeing then it tells what the problem is.

Sending you the file, post back here and le me know. Thanks I got it and that looks exactly like the problem I have. Now I guess the question is whether or not it's covered. I notice that it's dated July 3, 2008 but says that claims are covered only thru June 30, 2008. What would you suggest? Do you think they will still repair it?

I would email sony and let them know that you have one of the tvs in the bulliten.Tell them a service man came out and Identified the problem as one of sony's known defects and sugested you contact them to see if they will fix it.Hopefully they will at least warranty the part.Let me know what happens.Don't mention that you have a copy of the bulliten < supposed to be confidential > .But if they give you a hard time it could come in handy.

It appeared that Sony was going to do the right thing, but no such luck. After verbally telling me that this repair issue had been extended thru the end of 2008, they are now telling me tough luck if I can't prove it in writing, because it's no longer posted on their website. (they initially told me that they would honor the repair offer)

Apparently there is an addition to this Confidential Service Bulletin that extends this recall through Dec 31, 2008. I really need to get my hands on it. Does anyone have a copy or know where I can find a copy?

I hope Sony realizes that after this little game of theirs, I will NEVER again spend my hard earned money on another one of their junk products. I will make it my mission in life to also make sure that anyone I know or ever speak to, also does not purchase Sony products.

Well I can't help you out on that anymore.Shortly after your post I recieved several of those sets in my shop.Acting as a go between for sony and my customers they jerked my Autherized service center creditials. So now I no longer have access to the website. In the case of my customers they offered them $1,500 off a new sony tv.

Why did they do that...just because you were helping out your customers? They offered me the same discount deal but I'm not interested. After going over all the pertinent facts and info they told that they would repair it if I could prove that I had notified them prior to 1-31-09.

To their disappointment I was able to provide emails and read receipts proving that I had notified them and that they had also recived and read them. Then today they changed their tune and offered a discount claiming that my model was not included even though it's listed on their own services bulletin.

I will cost these scumbags much more than they ever imagined. I will be speaking to Stan Glasgow on the23rd when he returns to the corporate office. If he does not make it right I will make a very loud and public stink. Wait until they find out that everything they are now claiming to be false is recorded and I can prove every word of it.
