What is the best way to install drywall over adobe brick?
Current wall has 2x2's nailed into the brick with large gaps between top and bottom, much like furring strips. The nails also damaged the brick. They are not level and am having to replace due to termite damage. Can I install a 2x2 frame over the wall and anchor to floor and ceiling?? (Do not wish to go with 2x4's as wish to maintain room size and not have to change anything else). :wall:

You can definitely make a wall out of 2x2's with a top and bottom plate that you can nail into floor and ceiling. Also if it seems too flimsy put a couple of angle brackets tap coned into the brick. Then drywall.
