My two year-old GU2455XTSQ0 Whirlpool dishwasher is leaving soap powder in the detergent tray and there is soap residue on the dishes. There appears to be something restricting the water flow into the dishwasher. This started right after we had problems with the water softener that sent sediment throughout the plumbing. Is there a filter in the water inlet assembly that could be clogged? Is it easily accessible? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is usually a screen at the inlet of the water valve. Look under the machine and follow the hot water line until you come to the valve. If you find that the screen is crudded up, replace the valve because some of the sediment may have gotten into it. The part # is 8563406, around $30. Be sure to check the outlet hose and the inlet at the tub for crude as well. If you remi=ove the water inlet at the tub you'll need a new gasket, part # 8531323, around $13. You can find a parts diagram at Sears parts. Let us know how you make out. Thanks.

Thanks so much for your help. I remove the inlet valve, and as I suspected there was plenty of sediment blocking the water flow. I was able flush out the sediment, reinstall the valve, and the dishwasher works beautifully! Thanks again. Your input was much appreciated.
