we are installing 6 new construction anderson 400 windiows. we are going to put siding on the outside. as far as materials, what would we need other than nails and tools? what kind of insulation?
how bout anything to use in case we need to shim; what is best to shim if some windows are abit small? although the size of the openings are on the money. just in case...
thank you

The ongoing saga of Taser's OJT course 101.
There's alot more to installing windows than slapping them in openings, nailing them off and installing siding. For shims? You would use, yes, shims. Cedar comes to mind. You will need roofing nails and tools. Probably a hammer.
What are you doing on the inside? What about jamb extensions, if necessary? (you'll need a table saw for that one). Also, don't forget case trim. (cut off miter saw). For installation of the extensions and trim you will need a nail gun and compressor. You will need to seal the edges of the nailing flange with window seal material (looks like tar in tape form).
I hope these are your windows. A customer would expect you to already know this.

Installing Andersen windows is a slam dunk. Latch the window, throw it in the hole, center it, plumb and level, nail the flanges with roofing nails. Shim the sides as needed. Put your siding back on. If it's vinyl, you need J channel and undersill. If it's wood, leave a gap around the narroline for expansion.

"You will need to seal the edges of the nailing flange with window seal material (looks like tar in tape form)."

is that just around the nail falnge?
what kind of insulation should be used; blue can or fiberglass?
