I think I'm way in over my head with this and I'm only trying to make one 36" wide by 18" high cabinet with a horizontal aluminum frame door. The problem is sellecting the correct full overlay hinges and up lift stays. What do you use if you have a face frame cabinet box? I dont know whre to go...

Do you already have the door? Out of curiosity where will this cabinet be used? With an aluminum frame, you may want to consider a piano hinge. A cabinet that small may not benefit by a gas shock lift.

I dont already have the door because I need the makers to prep for hinges and screws. They were going to send me gas lifters made for the door weight but I declined because they were too expensive. I found some stays appropriate for the weight and torque of the door but they were for euro style cabinet box. This single cabinet is to go above my sink area. I just like the look.
Are you recommending a stronger stay and hinge though the torque calculations say that the stay I chose is good for this door? It's only a 10.5 lb door.

An aluminum door will weigh 10.5 lbs?! That's heavy. The 4' x 16" doors on my truck work side bodies don't weigh but about 4 lbs at most, even with the stainless steel lock mechanism. I was just suggesting a piano hinge since it spans the entire length of the door, and will attach to the top inside rail, giving support across the entire length rather than in a couple of points.
