I have a GE washing machine WVSR1060DOWW installed 4/05. My wife noticed a leak a few days ago. I removed the front panel and checked all the hose connections to make sure they were not clogged and not leaking. I noticed a small hose coming from the side of the tub that is attached to a small box about the size of a pack of cigarettes. this leads to the top of the machine. I removed and cleared some gunk from the hose and told my wife to keep an eye for leaks.
Tonight she called me. Water was gushing from a hose that is connected to the top of the tub and runs to the bottom, open ended. Looks like some kind of overflow hose. What would cause water to leak through this hose? This happened during the spin cycle when water is emptied from the machine..

inlet valve could be sticking open. unplug the machine while it is filling with warm water and make sure the water immediately stops coming in

Fairly common problem with GE you need a transmission. It is spinning and agitating at same time. That hosre is a overflow hose. If washer is 10 years or older I would replace it.

Appliance part finder - Locate your appliance parts by your model number. (http://www.apwagner.com/index.php?main_page=part_finder&model_search=WVSR1060D)

Check out the top number on this list. There are some diagrams of your appliance. Dave Thompson may be right

I just ran a load of laundry. Set to super load, largest setting and warm wash. the load ran without any leaks. I did unplug the machine while it was filling and the water stopped immediatly. Not sure what is going on. I will leave the front panel off for a while and monitor wash loads. Very fustrating. Let you know what happens. thanks for all your advise.
