Hi all,
I have an older ADT/Ademco installation that has been working fine for 10 years. Recently, one of our wireless window sensors is giving the msg "Sensor Tamper Alarm: Master middle window" and then after a few hours, we get "Sensor Tamper Alarm Restored: Master middle window". I tried opening the sensor, removing the battery for a few seconds, then putting it back together, but it still triggers these warnings. I haven't tried replacing the battery, but I'll do that tonight to see if that helps. Does anyone have any advice?

Also, for some strange reason, we're getting some numbers on the display, like 36, 37, 38, 39 and "not ready" (i think). Our last zone number is 24. Seeing these does not affect the ability to arm/disarm the alarm, but it's just weird seeing those on there. Is there any way to get these off? I believe these started appearing after our fire alarm sensor's battery was low.

Thanks,
Steve.

If you have one or more keyfobs, those 4 consective zone numbers would be one of those.

Sometimes the little spring on the cover tamper switch on the transmitters do go bad. Low battery can produce this effect, but the actual switch might be failing. Give the new battery a shot.

Thanks so much! I've replaced my battery and we'll wait and see if we get any more alerts. I'm also going to change the batteries in my remote to see if 36-39 msgs go away.

Thanks again MrRon!

Hi MrRon,
I ordered some new keyfob batteries and made the mistake of taking the existing ones out for a few days which i think erased the settings. Can you please help me to get my display to not show 36,37,38,39 to not show BAT? Is it easy to reprogram the system so that it see the keyfob again?

Thanks,
Steve.

Enter your code + 1 (off) a couple of times.

The settings are not erased, either you haven't cleared the trouble, or the keyfob itself has failed (or your bought a bad batch of batteries. Some stores don't rotate their stock of those lithium batteries like they should...)

I've tried the code+1 several times to no avail. Oh well, I guess I'll have to get used to 36-39 on my display.

As for the tamper alarm, I replaced batteries, but i'm still getting false alarms. Is it easy to put that zone on "test" indefinitely or even remove it from the system altogether?

Thanks MrRon!

About all you can do is bypass that transmitter each time you arm. It sounds like you have a failing transmitter.

For the keyfob, if the system was in place when you got the place, there may have been a second keyfob that is long lost.

In both cases, the only real solution is deleting the devices, and possibly learning in new ones to replace them. You do need a 2-line alpha keypad to do this (6139/6160 or equivalent).

make sure you put the batteries in the correct way. Those zones will only clear when you arm or disarm with the keyfob. This sends a battery status.

possibility number 2..... you have a bad keyfob that constantly sends low battery signals to the panel.

possibility number 3..........your new batteries are bad

possibility number 4..........Sometimes a trouble can get stuck in the panel. Power the alarm completely down then up, then try to arm and disarm with the fob. If the low battery trouble is legit then the fob will send the panel into lo batt again.
