I purchased a used Kinetico softener that was set up for tannin in the water. According to a local dealer they add anion resin to the cation resin to handle the tannin.

If the new location water does not have tannin, is it possible to remove the anion resin from the tanks leaving only the cation resin?

My dealer mentioned that they could do a service call and "siphon" the anion resin from the tank since the anion resin is lighter and rises above the cation resin.

Is there a way I could do this myself and avoid the service call? The unit is only 2 years old so there is no need to replace the regular cation resin.

Thanks!

I suppose it is possible to siphone it out. The tannin resin will be a very light, whitish color and the softening resin will be an amber color.

It really won 't hurt anything to leave it in,
