Hello all, I wanted to know if their was a clean way to punch holes through carpet without snagging the threads?

You would want to use a hollow hole punch set. It will punch a clean hole through the carpet so that you could then carefully drill a hole in the center and avoid snagging the carpet.

Lacking a hole punch, I have in the past used a utility knife to cut out a small square just big enough to clear the drill. If it will be a temporary hole, then cut only three sides and lift up the tab for access to drill the hole. Then, if the wire or other is ever removed, the tab can be pushed back in place and no hole.

Try using a hole saw. Make dure your drill is in reverse.
