I have a Hotpoint WLW 3400 that doesn't work and was wondering if it is worth repairing or do I need to replace. The motor is either froze up of something majorly wrong. When I pull out the knob the motor HUMMS loudly and then the built in circuit kicks off.. What is the cost of a new motor? is it worth the repair cost for a new motor? etc.

Here is a link to your machine
HOTPOINT | Model #WLW3400SALWH | WASHER | SearsPartsDirect.com (http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieveModelDetails.pd?modelNumber=WLW3400SALWH&productCategoryId=0153000&brandId=1811&modelName=WASHER)
Look under 2 speed that is motor and brake assy. You have a Ammna based machine and they have brake problems. I have not worked on many. I would drop motor out and see if turns.

I agree with david, but before junking the machine, check the pump. An aftermarket replacement can be had on Ebay for $16[search for LP112 or WH23X42]. If, after removing the pump, the motor still won't go, take off the belt and see if the motor will now run. Those machines sometimes get a sock or other small clothing item jammed between the basket and the tub, especially at the water outlet on the tub. Let us know how you make out.
