I'm going to build a stand for a saltwater aquarium. It will be 211/2"x201/2"x291/2"high.I'm thinking of using 1/2" MDF then painting it black. The tank will weigh appx. 250lbs. It will have 1 shelf inside with 2 doors in front.Do you think I need to build a frame if you will, then skin it so to speak with MDF? I cannot attach pics to my thread or I could post a pic of what I am wanting it to look like. here's a link to a pic of one(not sure if were allowed to do that,I'm NOT trying to advertise for anyone so if it's wrong ,mods feel free to remove the link)

you will definitely need a frame to support the weight of a saltwater aquarium, MDF has almost no structural strength so a good frame is a must. the water will weigh about 8.6 lbs per gall, how many gals is the aquarium?

life begins when the kids leave home and the dog dies

29 gals. The one that is made for it has no inner frame was why I was wondering.Do you think 2"x2"s are enough?
