Hello all,

I have a 24 year old Kenmore electric dryer #697267 that will only run for a few seconds and then shut off, I sometimes can get it to run normal if I help turn the tumbler and push the start button at he same time, does anyone know what the problem might be?

As always thanks,

Pieter

Can you restart the dryer right after it shuts off or do you have to wait a while before it will start?

push to start relay or motor perhaps.

need to get a voltmeter and the schematic and figure it out.

yes I can actually but then sometimes it will keep running or stop after a few minutes again. I guess I have to say good bye to the dryer and buy a new one, knowing that a new one probably will not last 24 years...
Thanks

If the motor makes a really loud noise when starting, you have a bad start winding in the motor.
