Im drywalling a plaster ceiling[12'x14'] and I need the best possible finish.Should I strap
1x3 to the joists or hang the sheet directly over the plaster [ ceiling is level]
Thank you

You can hang right over the plaster. Is a bit of a pain since you should screw into the joist. You need 2 1/2 " screws typically and finding the joist is hit or miss(nice pun). I would also use glue.
