Maytag washing machine
Model#: SAV515DEWW

My maytag washing machine is leaking about 1-2 gallons of water from the base each time it runs. I think it is leaking during the rinse cycle once the tub tries to discharge all of the water out.

I thoroughly checked all of the hoses leading in and out of the machine and they are not leaking. I think it is one of the parts or seals inside the machine where the transmission links up with the agitator, but I'm not 100% sure.

I started to disassemble the machine. I removed the agitator and inner tub. I'm down to the "triple lip seal" and some part that sits on top of that. Any idea how to get these parts off? They are both plastic.

Thanks in advance for your help.

you really need to be 100% sure where the leak is before you tear it apart and possibly make it worse.

run a cycle with the front panel off so you can see where the leak is coming from.

Hi

I agree with David, take the front cover off and take a look around. With that much water coming out the leak should be obvious. If it's leaking only during the drain period, first thing to check is the pump and the hoses for the pump. You'll find a parts breakdown here:

Look for parts on EBay, much cheaper than APP or Repair Clinic. Let us know how you make out. Thanks.

daddyjohn and David Thompson-

Thanks for your help with this. I followed your advice and it appeared that the water seemed to be leaking out of the bottom of the tub at the seal. I think the part was called the "triple lip seal."

The washing machine actually belongs to a friend of mine (I was just helping him to fix it). He opted to get a new washing machine anyway rather than spend any more time or money on the part..not what I would have done if it was my machine.

Anyway, thanks again for your help.
