I have a 5 year old hot water heater. Lately it started to leak form the pressure relief valve. So I changed the pressure relief valve. This did not correct the problem. Is it time for a new tank or is there something else I can try.

you might need to install a expansion tank in your hotwater line to the house, is this a gas or electric tank? public water or well? have you changed any other parts of the water system lately?

I'd start by buying a water pressure gauge that will thread on the drain valve hose fitting and measure you water pressure.

Compare the read you get with the pressure at which the PT valve opens.

These gauges cost $5-10 at a hardware store.
