How much do I stretch Elasbelt webbing (single red stripe) on the seat of a dining chair?
The wood frame is approx. 17"X17".
Thanks for your help.

Are you using a webbing stretcher? This tool is used to stretch fabrics and webbing for a tight fit. It has metal spikes that grab webbing and allow for it to be pulled tight.

OK, I don't know anything about Elasbelt, so I asked someone that does. :D
You need Webbing Pliers, and it should be stretched just so it's taut, not sagging, and applied in a basketweave style about an 1" apart.

Thanks for your replies. The chairs turned out fine. I pre-tensioned about 1/2". I found that wide jaw vice-grip pliers work great.
